-What does this book make you wonder about? Why?
“Time folded in on itself. What is left lies in clear yet disjointed pieces in my head. The gun shining like a toy in her had, how he snatched it away and waved it around. The gun on the floor. Bending to pick it up. The noise that exploded around us.
This is what I knew about myself. She was all I wanted. And I took her away.”
-I cannot imagine dealing with the thought that I killed my mother, especially if she was the only one that I loved. I can only imagine how bad she must feel about herself. She has to deal with the thought that she killed someone that so many people loved including her, and she is only 14. She never meant to kill her mother, she was trying to give her the gun, but unfortunately things happen like this.
-Make up a motto that one of the characters seems to live by. How and why does this fit the character?
-“My mother love me”
I think that Lily Owen's motto is that her mother loves her because she is always thinking about how it is not possible for a child to have 2 parents that refuse to love her. Lily's dad T-ray convinced Lily that her mother didn't love her ever, but Lily knows she does. Her mother's love is the only thing keeping her alive and well.
